This cabin has withstood the tests of time, earning a prominent place in the landscape. This deck, however, was at the end of its serviceable years. Much of the decking had significant dry rot, and Bridgeview Painting was asked if they could help. We removed the decking and reassessed the structure. We determined that some areas of the structure had a tendency to gather debris, and in those areas, even the pressure treated joists had succumb to the effects of dry rot. We removed the bad structure, and treated the remaining structure with preservative. we installed new pressure treated joists and redesigned the edge detailing to minimize accumulation. We then installed quality cedar decking and emulated the original squirting detail. By utilizing the existing structure, and updating its design detailing with longevity in mind, Bridgeview Painting found a sustainable solution for a timeless deck…
